Architect / LBP

Fitzgerald Construction is seeking a skilled Architect (LBP) to join our growing team in Nelson or Christchurch. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a respected, forward‑thinking construction company delivering high‑quality built environments across the South Island.

About the Role

This hands‑on architectural role has a strong focus on commercial projects, while also supporting a variety of residential builds, alterations, and additions. You will work closely with our in‑house teams and external consultants to deliver practical, well‑resolved solutions across all stages of design and construction.

Experience in the education sector will be highly beneficial.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop concept designs, detailed drawings, and documentation

• Manage the Consenting process, including preparation and submission of documentation

• Ensure all work meets New Zealand regulatory requirements and industry standards

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams

• Conduct site visits and provide construction‑phase support

• Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders

 

About You

• Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) – essential

• Architectural qualification with proven NZ experience

• Strong understanding of NZ building codes, compliance, and construction processes

• Proficiency with industry‑standard design and documentation software

• Experience in commercial architecture; education‑sector experience is an advantage

• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach
